12-year-old at 1992 UN Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro tells it like it is:
”the solutions to the ecological crisis can be the solutions to the economic crisis…[they are] of a single root which is unrestrained corporate greed” -Naomi Klein at panel discussion on Occupy Movement, watch it here.
Think of how the conversation has changed since the beginning of Occupy Wall Street when the main political talking point was raising the debt ceiling, what load of bullshit that was. Now inequality of wealth and corporate politics are on everyone’s mind and being discussed. Don’t you dare let anyone tell you Occupy has not accomplished anything!
I think Michael is right on in capturing the spirit of the Occupy Movement and translating it into specific goals and demands. Read it here.
Plutocracy in action, where defying the status quo of corporate politics leads to brutalization and loss of constitutional rights. Watch the Democracy Now report below of police officers destroying and dumping people’s possessions into garbage trucks, and beating, pepper spraying and arresting activists. The police and scores of sanitation workers are paid protectors of plutocracy, committing crimes and causing pain and suffering to others. It is greatly saddening to see what plutocracy causes us to do to each other.
This is amazing
